Abstract

1309796 Separating particles from gases ENTOLETER Inc 3 April 1970 [4 April 1969] 16037/70 Heading B1R Dust-laden gas is drawn by fan 82 through divided volute 21, together with entrained water which enters by pipe 25, to the exterior of a ring of separate apertured louvered vanes 45 which promote vertical flow. In consequence, gas and fine droplets are drawn to the interior of the ring while large droplets are caused to pass out to the external volute channels, water which collects therein being run off through drain 26'. The stream of gas and fine droplets passes upwards through the central opening in annular plates 65, 48 and separates in upper chamber 61, washed gas passing out through outlet 81 and collected water passing out through drain 64'. The flow characteristics within the apparatus may be varied as desired, e.g. by skewing the vanes (see Fig. 6, not shown) or by altering the configuration of the apertures in the vanes (see Figs. 11, 12, not shown). If desired, two units may be combined in series in a single housing (see Fig. 9, not shown). (For Figures see next column)
