Abstract
1,073,793. Steam turbines. ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. May 26, 1964 [June 13, 1963], No.23608/63. Heading F1T. A steam turbine has an annular moisture separation chamber 4 situated between stages 2, 3 and having an axial length not less than three quarters of its radial width. Guide vanes 6, 9 respectively at the inlet to and the outlet from the chamber 4 have heat drops therethrough and the vanes 6 are inclined such that the swirl velocity in the chamber is at least 250 ft. /sec. at normal turbine speed. Moisture is thus thrown off through passage 7 into a second annular chamber 8, whence it flows to the feedwater heaters and the condenser of the plant, Fig. 3 (not shown).
