Abstract

692,210. Centrifugal-separators. BABCOCK & WILCOX, Ltd. Sept. 19, 1950. [Sept. 20, 1949], No. 22962/50. Class 23 In a plant for extracting dust from gas comprising a group of cyclone separators in parallel, each cyclone of the group has an inlet part 18 of diameter D, a frustroconical part 19 having a diameter at the small end of 1/5 D, a cylindrical part 20 of length ¢D, and a frustro-conical part 21 discharging carrier gas and dust into a common dust collecting duct. Four groups of cyclones 2 having common inlet and outlet ducts 4, 6 are mounted above four groups of cyclones 3 having common inlet and outlet ducts 5, 7. The dust collecting ducts 8 of the cyclones 2 deliver by means of a duct 10 to a cyclone 12, and the dust collecting ducts 9 of the cyclones 3 deliver by means of a duct 11 to a cyclone 13 on the same level as the cyclone 12. Suction means are arranged to return the carrier gas, which is 3 per cent, of the gas treated, from the gas outlets of the cyclones 12, 13 to the gas inlet ducts 4, 5, whilst the extracted dust is discharged into bunkers.
