Abstract
1,036,661. Centrifuges. VEB ZENTRALE ENTWICKLUNG UND KONSTRUKTION (ZEK) DIESELMOTOREN ROSSLAU. Feb. 26, 1964, No. 8065/64. Heading B2P. In a centrifugal oil separator comprising a drum 5 rotated in a housing 1, 3 by the reaction of cleaned oil discharging from one or more nozzles 8, the oil, before its admission into the separating chamber 11 of the drum, has imparted to it the angular velocity of the drum and is split into several streams by its passage through chamber 13 formed between ribs 12 arranged between the upper part of the drum and a plate-like member. The chambers 13 open into the chamber 11 through openings 14 Fig. 1, in the vicinity of the inner periphery of the drum, or through openings 18, Fig. 3. The ribs 12 may extend beyond the periphery of the plate-like member. The oil to be cleaned is fed at 2, 4. The purified oil passes through an axially-arranged opening 15 (which may alternatively face the inlet 4) into a pipe or channel 16 connecting the nozzles. Alternatively, the purified oil passes through a number of pipes individually connected to corresponding nozzles, the opening in each pipe being disposed in the vicinity of the axis of rotation of the drum.
