Abstract

943,768. Unit apparatus. FIRTH CLEVELAND Ltd. Nov. 16, 1959, No. 28179/63. Divided out of 942,537. Heading F4V. An air heater comprises a cross-flow fan 2 which draws air through an inlet 14 of a casing 1 and discharges it over an electric heating element 36 through an outlet 15. Walls 3, 4 guide the air through the fan and allow a flow over a thermostat 41 controlling the heater. In an embodiment (Fig. 6), two rotors are used for the fan which draws air through inlet slits 121a and passes it over a heater 128 to the outlet 118. A nozzle 131 may be fitted as shown over the outlet. The rotor, motor and heater may be formed as a unit as described in Specification 943,398. In further embodiments two electrical heaters extend at an angle to the flow of air from the fan whereby maximum heating occurs where there is maximum flow of air.
