Abstract

1,171,639. Hair drier. RONSON CORP. 22 Nov., 1966 [26 Nov., 1965], No. 52303/66. Heading A5R. A portable hair drier comprises a soft flexible hood for fitting about the head and an electric fan-heater unit supported by the hood for supplying a stream of warm air thereto. The unit comprises a housing 20 in which is mounted a motor 30 which drives a rotor 42 provided with impeller blades 48. Guide vanes 38 extend radially from a stator 36 mounted on the casing of the motor. Air impelled by rotation of the blades 48 is directed by vanes 38 past heating wires 52 wound on frame 51. The discharge end 22 of housing 20 is provided with bayonet fasteners 23, 24 for detachably securing the unit to a collar 17 of an adaptor ring 14 which is positioned in the inlet 13 of the hood. An elastomeric damper ring 65 may be provided at the inlet end 25 of the housing. A rectifier and thermostat may be mounted within the housing.
