Abstract

1376675 Air heating apparatus SUNBEAM CORP 2 March 1972 [24 March 1971] 16333/74 Divided out of 1376674 Heading F4S Apparatus 40 for supplying a forced flow of heated air (in particular to a hair drying appliance such as described in Specification 1,376,674) comprises housing portions 41, 61, Fig. 2, interconnected for example by coaxial, interengaging bosses (63, 64, Fig. 6) and forming between them an annular heated-air discharge opening 66. Mounted within the housing portion 61 is an electric motor 67 encircled by a cylindrical baffle 100, radially outwardly of the baffle 100 are low wattage electric heating elements 95 or high wattage electric heating elements 96. A fan 50 is mounted on the motor shaft and is located within the housing portion 41. In use, the air heating appliance 40 is mounted as shown in Fig. 1 at the top of a hair drying bonnet 21. Alternative use of the high and low wattage heating elements is effected by a switch 107. Air is drawn by the fan 50 through an inlet opening 45 in the casing section 41 and flows thence over the heating elements 95 or 96 to the annular opening 66 discharging into the hair-drying bonnet 21. Some inflowing air passes within the baffle 100 to cool the motor. The electric circuit includes a safety thermostat (97, Figs. 5 and 8).
