Abstract

932,871. Two-part couplings. AMP Inc. Feb. 1, 1962 [Feb. 21, 1961], No. 3791/62. Class 38 (1). The bodies of the two parts 1, 18 of a multicontact coupling are moulded from resilient plastic material, e.g. polyethylene, the part 18 is skirted, and a rim 35 on this skirt snaps behind tapered ribs, e.g. 12 on the other part 1 to lock them together. Two further ribs 15, Fig. 2 (not shown), are provided on the opposite side to rib 12. The coupling is polarized by rib 12 engaging a recess 32 in the skirt and by chamfering the corners 16 and bridging the corresponding corners 33. Contacts crimped to the conductors are retained in the housings 2 by spring detents.
