Abstract

863,386. Two-part couplings. BELLING & LEE Ltd. May 6, 1959 [June 27, 1958], No. 20728/58. Addition to 676,144. Class 38 (1). A plug or socket connector comprises two integral flap or cover portions joined by an integral web hinge and shaped internally to locate and embrace detachable pin or socket contacts when the flaps are folded into facial engagement, fastening means being provided to hold them closed. As shown, two flap portions 1, 2, formed, with a thin connecting web 3, as a unitary moulding of thermoplastic material, e.g. P.V.C. or polyethylene, have finger grips 13, recesses 7 and cable-gripping extensions 14 and are held in facial engagement by part spherical projections 11 entering corresponding recesses 12. Each contact pin 4 has an annular flange 6 seated in a recess 7 and a reduced diameter tubular portion 8 attached to a conductor 5 by crimping or by inserting solder 10 through a slot.
