Abstract

Textile materials, e.g. wool, cotton, viscose rayon, acrylic, polyolefine, polyamide and polyester fibres, are lubricated and render anti-static by applying to them 0.01-10% by weight of a product obtained by condensing caster oil with ethylene oxide so that the equivalent weight of the caster oil, i.e. the weight containing the equivalent of one free hydroxy group, is reacted with 2-30 moles of ethylene oxide. The products may be applied undiluted or as solutions or dispersions in water or in admixture with non-aqueous media such as fatty glycerides or mineral oils. The products may be used in admixture with other lubricants commonly employed in the textile trade, e.g. animal, vegetable and mineral oils, fats and waxes.
