Description

Process for the finishing of textile goods It has been found that the higher aliphatic alcohols, such as oleic and stearic alcohol, in high It has the property of making textiles soft and supple. The textile goods is used for this purpose either with the solutions of the alcohols in any one organic solvents, for example gasoline, turpentine, pyridine, or else treated with aqueous emulsions of alcohols. For the production of such emulsions can use the known dispersants, such as aromatic sulfonic acids, sulfonated Oils and the like are used. The treated textile material shows after removal of the solvent or dispersion medium an extraordinary smoothness and suppleness and is odorless and not sensitive to water. Achieving a good softness effect is equally important for wool, cotton, silk and rayon, especially but with the latter; the alcohols of the higher fatty acids result, especially with Finishing of artificial silk has good effects.

It is known that higher molecular weight aliphatic compounds such as Fats. Oils and soaps are able to give textile goods a soft handle. On the one hand, however, these agents lead to yellowing of the textile material over a longer period of time - Storage, on the other hand they do not give the often desired, at the same time soft and dry. Handle. For example, olive oil gives it a soft, but oily moist Grip, and in addition, when it is finely distributed on the textile material, there is decomposition processes which lead to discoloration of the goods.
