Abstract
931,346. High-frequency discharge apparatus. GENERAL TELEPHONE & ELECTRONICS LABORATORIES Inc. July 4, 1961 [July 6, 1960], No. 24159/61. Class 39 (1). A strophotron amplifier tube, which ivoltage-tunable, comprises elongated hyper bolic reflector electrode pairs 10, 11 and accelerator electrode pairs 14, 15, a cathode 35 held at a positive potential with respect to the reflector electrodes at one end of the interaction space and a collector 43 at the other, and a control grid 39 mounted adjacent the cathode, inside the interaction space. A hyperbolicallycurved shield 36 supporting a screen grid 36a is also provided, in front of the control grid. The signal to be amplified is applied, by terminals 40, 41, between the cathode and the control grid and the output is obtained across the reflector electrodes or, to double the frequency, across the reflectors, as one terminal, and the accelerator electrodes, as the other terminal.
