Abstract

931,007. Photographic developers. MAY & BAKER Ltd. April 7, 1961 [April 14, 1960], No. 13532/60. Class 98 (2). A photographic developer concentrate comprises an aqueous solution containing 1-phenyl- 3 - pyrazolidone, hydroquinone, chlorohydroquinone, an alkali metal sulphite, and alkali such that when diluted for use the pH is 11.0- 11.8. The alkali is preferably sodium or potassium hydroxide or both, and the sulphite either sodium or potassium, or both, the preponderating ion preferably being potassium. The compositions may contain a silver halide solvent such as a thiocyanate or thiosulphate, a buffering agent such as lactic or boric acid, and/or an antifoggant such as bentrizole. In the examples, the developers contain trisodium N- hydroxyethylene-diamine-tri-actate.
