Abstract

821,177. Photographic developers. GENERAL ANILINE & FILM CORPORATION. March 29, 1957 [April 11, 1956], No. 10420/57. Class 98(2) A single powder developer having an organic silver halide developing agent, an alkali, a preservative and an anti-fogging agent is stabilized by at least 0.5 gm. of acid stabilizer and at least 1 gm. of alkali metal polyphosphate per litre of developing solution. Sodium or potassium hexametaphosphate may be used, the sodium salt being preferred. The acid stabilizer may be one or more of the following: phthalic acid, anhydrous oxalic acid, boric anhydride, metaboric acid or potassium metabisulphite. The alkali may be sodium carbonate or borax, the preservative an alkali metal sulphite and the anti-fogging agent potassium bromide. Ethylene diamine tetra acetic acid is present in all the examples.
