Abstract
991,934. Photographic developers. KODAK Ltd. May 19, 1961 [May 23, 19601, No. 18355/61. Heading G2C. A photographic silver halide developer composition comprises an alkali and as sole developer, a 3-indazolinone of formula wherein D represents the atoms to complete a benzene ring which may be substituted. Preferably indazolinones of formula wherein R 1 to R 4 each represents a hydrogen or halogen atom, an alkyl, aryl, pyridyl, or -NHCOR group where R is alkyl with 1-6 carbon atoms, an alkoxy group with 1 to 6 carbon atoms or an amino group are used. The compound may be used in aqueous or dry developer compositions; together with an alkali metal sulphite or metabisulphite and an alkali metal borate or hydroxide. The indazolinones may also be incorporated in developer-fixer compositions to which an alkalimetal thiosulphate is added. A dye image may be obtained if the exposed layer is treated with an aqueous developer comprising an amino-3-indazolone and from 0-10 g of alkali metal sulphite and removing the silver image in a bleach bath as the aminoindazolone undergoes autocoupling.
