Abstract

959,182. Stabilisers for photographic developers. AGFA A.G. July 27, 1961 [July 27, 1960], No. 24439/63. Divided out of 940,169. Heading G2C. Photographic developers are stabilized by adding derivative of 2-mercahto-1, 3, 4-thiodiazole of formula: wherein X is sulphur or a-NH-radical and R is an alkylene radical of 4-10 carbon atoms, cycloalkylene, arylene or aralkylene radical or one of these radicals substituted by halogen. alkoxy or alkyl radicals. Compounds used in the examples are those wherein X is sulphur and R is hexylene, octylene or paraxylylene or X is -NH and R is hexylene. The compounds are preferably added to developers used in the silver salt diffusion process. The developer may contain a silver halide solvent e.g. sodium, potassium, calcium or ammonium thiosulphate.
