Abstract
1466922 Photographic bleach and bleach-fix compositions EASTMAN KODAK CO 26 March 1974 [26 March 1973] 13362/74 Heading G2C Photographic materials containing silver images, e.g. exposed and developed silver halide colour materials, are bleached to remove the silver image by treatment with an aqueous bleach solution containing a ferric aminocarboxylic acid bleaching agent in the presence of a bleach accelerator which is a monothioglycerol cystamine 2, 2'-dithio bis [ethylamine], or a thiol of the Formula:- in which R<SP>1</SP> and R<SP>2</SP> are each hydrogen, methyl or ethyl and n is an integer of from 1 to 3, or a salt thereof. The bleach-accelerator may be present in the bleach solution, which may also contain a fixer, or the material may be treated with a prebath containing the bleach accelerator before treatment with the bleach solution. Specified accelerators are 1-monothioglycerol, 2-monothioglycerol, cystamine dihydrochloride, 2-amino ethanethiol hydrochloride, 3-aminopropanethiol, dimethylaminoethane thiol, dimethylaminoaminopropane thiol hydrochloride, N-methyl-N- ethylaminoethane thiol and diethylaminoethane thiol hydrochloride. The accelerator may also be provided in the form of a precursor which splits to yield a thiol when dissolved in the processing bath.
