Abstract

900,103. Photographic colour developers. AGFA A.G. Sept. 25, 1959 [Sept. 26, 1958], No. 32707/59. Drawings to Specification. Class 98 (2). A photographic colour developer comprises an aqueous solution of pH 10.4 to 10.8 containing as components from 1 to 2 g./l. of an N- alkyl- and/or N-hydroxyalkyl-p-phenylene diamine sulphate, sulphite or hydrochloride, hydroxylamine sulphate, potassium carbonate, potassium bicarbonate, potassium bromide, an alkali metal sulphite and an amino carboxylic acid as a sequestering agent. The developer may be made up as two concentrated solutions, one containing the hydroxylamine sulphate and the N-substituted p-phenylene diamine salt, and the other containing the remaining components, the solutions being mixed and diluted before use. The sequestering agent may be ethylene diamine tetra-acetic acid. A number of very similar developer compositions are described for comparison purposes.
