Abstract
774,194. Photographic bleach-fix baths. PHOTO-CHEMICAL CO., Ltd. June 3, 1955 [June 19, 1954], No. 18055/54. Class 98(2) A bleach-fix bath for processing photographic colour material comprises an aqueous solution of one or more silver halide solvents and a cuprammonium complex derived from a cupric salt and ammonia or a primary or secondary aliphatic amine.. When an amine is used to form the complex this may be ethylenediamine, mono-ethanolamine or di-ethanolamine, and it is preferred to use excess of the same or a different amine used to form the complex. A sequestering agent such as ethylenediamine-tetra-acetic acid may be added to the bath. The silver halide solvent may be sodium or ammonium thiosulphate, and an additional silver halide solvent may be included such as an alkali metal or ammonium thiocyanate. The cuprammonium complex may be formed in situ in the bath by adding the ammonia or amine to a solution of the cupric salt and the silver halide solvent. Any stain produced on the photographic material by the baths may be removed by rinsing the material in a weak acid bath such as 1 per cent acetic or citric acid.
