Abstract
900,171. Photographic developers. KODAK Ltd. Oct. 30, 1958 [Nov. 7, 1957], No. 34688/57. Class 98 (2). A photographic developer is made by mixing two solutions, one comprising one or more developing agents at a pH of 7 or less and too low to function as a developer, and the other comprising one or more developing agents at least one being the same as in the first solution and at a pH at least 4 higher than the first solution so that when mixed with the first solution the mixture will function as a developing solution. The second solution may be used alone as a replenisher for the mixed solutions. The first solution may be a concentrated solution comprising acid such as acetic acid and 1-phenyl-3-pyrazolidone, and the second solution may be a concentrated solution comprising hydroquinone, 1-phenyl-3-pyrazolidone and alkali, such as potassium hydroxide and sodium metaborate. The latter solution may be diluted before mixing. Both solutions may also contain methyl-benztriazole and sodium metabisulphite, while the first solution may include potassium bromide.
