Abstract

930,048. Endless conveyers. MONSANTO CHEMICAL CO. Feb. 9, 1962 [Feb. 17, 1961], No. 5102/62. Class 78 (1). Staple fibre 13 which is deflected off a continuous belt conveyer 11 by a deflecting plate 18 is prevented from being carried under the plate by air streams directed from a manifold 19 secured to the plate. Jamming of the belt is thus prevented. The staple is fed on to the belt from a hopper 14 and is removed from the vicinity of the plate by a suction shoot 27 connected to a fan unit 29. If it is desired to beat the staple, the plate is swung to one side to allow the staple to be carried past the shoot 27 to a beater (not shown). More than one hopper 14 may be provided.
