Abstract

927,632. Refractory bricks. VEITSCHER MAGNESITWERKE A.G. Nov. 3, 1960 [Nov. 5, 1959], No. 37875/60. Class 51(2). A refractory brick 1 has an upper recess 2 receiving a supporting member 5 extending at least to the centre of the upper face of the brick, said recess having plane side faces 4 which converge towards the top of the brick at an angle of between 8 and 25 degrees with the vertical. The supporting member 5 is made from steel or a heat-resisting alloy and is in the form of an inverted U-shaped strip, the angle between the limbs being equal to or slightly greater than the angle of convergence of the walls 4. The flat centre portion 9 of the member 5 is flush with the upper face of the brick and engages a hammer shaped hanger 6 whereby bricks are suspended in pairs as shown in Fig. 2. In a modification, Figs. 3 and 4 (not shown), the portion 9 of member 5 is raised so that the hanger 6 is disposed entirely above the upper brick face, and the member 5 has reinforcing. walls joining the ends of its limbs and partially filling in the opening remote from the hanger.
