962,665. Furnace roofs; thermal regenerators. UNITED STATES STEEL CORPORATION. Dec. 9, 1960 [Dec. 30, 1959], No. 42417/60. Headings F4B and F4K. A refractory roof for use in open hearth furnace chequer chambers comprises bricks 14, 16, suspended from a top set of parallel beams 2 by two transverse sets of parallel underslung beams 6, 10, clipped to beams 2 and to each other. The refractory bricks have slots 18, 20 receiving the lower flanges of beams 10 and refractory material 24 protecting the said flanges. Refractory material 26 is placed on top of the bricks between the supports.
