952,354. Furnace roofs. HEINRICH KOPPERS G.m.b.H. July 1, 1960 [July 7, 1959], No. 23100/60. Heading F4B. An open hearth furnace roof comprises chrome-magnesite blocks 1 of frusto-pyramidal shape suspended from supports 2, the spaces between adjacent block side walls 8 being filled with loose or tamped refractory material, e.g. magnesite. Preferably said spaces are lined with sheet metal casings 6 divided by vertical partitions 9. The cross-sections of the blocks shown are squares, but other regular geometrical shapes, e.g. equilateral triangles, rectangles or hexagons, may be used.
