875,733. Furnace roofs. VEITSCHER MAGNESITWERKE A.G. Dec. 17, 1959 [Dec. 22, 1958], No. 42985/59. Class 51 (2). A metallurgical furnace roof has rib bricks 1 suspended from girders 5 and panel bricks 6 secured in pairs by hangers 7 and pins 8 engaging U-shaped suspension units comprising members 9 seated on said girders 5 and connected by sleeves 10. The hangers 7 engage recesses 13 formed in the bricks so that when the roof is warm said hangers burn through and the suspension units may be removed and replaced by blocks 11 partially supported as shown by the rib bricks. The replacement blocks 11 may be suspended from the girders 5, Fig. 2 (not shown). The brick hangers may be supported from horizontal bars resting on wedge-shaped members on the girders S, Fig. 3 (not shown). The hangers 7 may also have hook formations engaging the pins 8.
