Abstract

1,019,335. Refractory bricks. STEETLEY REFRACTORY BRICK CO. Ltd. April 29, 1964 [April 30, 1963], No. 17025/63. Heading F4B. A fired refractory brick 11 for a furnace suspended wall or roof is formed with a cavity 12, open through one end 7, having two walls 13 shaped in a wedging relation to one another to prevent a wedge-shaped metal insert 14 having surfaces 13<SP>1</SP> adapted to co-operate with the walls 13 when inserted in cavity 12, from moving towards the end 7 of the brick 11. The walls 13 make an angle of 6 to 20 degrees with each other. In use the bricks are at least partly supported by engaging the insert 14 over one of the arms of a supporting lug. In a modification Figs. 4 and 5 (not shown) the metal insert, may project above the surface of the end of the brick. Other refractory material may be inserted into the space within the metal insert. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 927,632.
