Abstract

922,318. Cylinders; valve gear. FIAT S. p. A. March 21, 1961 [April 30, 1960], No. 10296/61. Classes 7(2), 7(3) and 7(6) Separate intake passages 7, 8, lead from inlets on one side face 1b of a cylinder head to separate inlet ports 4, and separate exhaust ports 5 are connected by an exhaust conduit 6 to a single outlet 6a on the opposite side face 1a of the cylinder head, the inlet conduits being arranged tangentially to the cylinder to produce separate helical swirls with parallel axes. The pairs of inlet and exhaust valves 4, 5, are operated by single rockers 10, 12, mounted on a common pivot axis. The intake conduits have baffles 7a adjacent the inlet ports and a fuel injector 9 is situated on the cylinder axis.
