Abstract
1,098,997. I.C. engine valve gear; induction passages. H. LIST. July 22, 1965 [Aug. 21, 1964], No.31152/65. Heading F1B. In an I.C. engine cylinder head 1 having two inlet and two exhaust valves per cylinder, the inlet ports 14, 14' are of spiral form and the inlet ducts extend upwardly towards the top of the cylinder head to a common suction port. The inlet ducts are of similar shape and length to provide substantially identical flow conditions and swirl rates at both inlet valves. The suction port (16), Fig. 2 (not shown), is defined by a tube (17) inserted between the top of the head (1) and a valve gear cover (2). In a further embodiment, Fig. 3 (not shown), the pairs of inlet valves (9, 9') of adjacent cylinders communicate with a common suction port (16), Fig. 4 (not shown). The pairs of inlet valves (9, 9'), Fig. 5 (not shown), are each actuated by a bridge piece (11), guided axially by a pin in the cylinder head.
