Abstract

805,996. Two-stroke engines; driving- gear. ROTH, A. June 17, 1957 [June 18, 1956], No. 19080/57. Class 7(2) Polygonally arranged cylinders with common working chambers 9 have doubleacting pistons connected by links 6, bellcranks 7 and connecting rods 8 to a central crankshaft. To vary the times of opening and closing of piston-controlled ports 10, 11 which times may be such as to effect supercharging, the bell-cranks 7 have eccentric pivots 14 conjointly controlled through gears or gear segments 16, 17. A fuel injector 18 is provided. As shown the ports 10, 11 respectively scavenge and exhaust but if one or more inlet or outlet valves are provided at eadh polygon outer corner both ports 10 and ports 11 exhaust or scavenge respectively.
