Abstract
921,627. Feeding sheets; addressing- machines. W. RITZERFELD, and G. RITZERFELD. Jan. 6, 1961 [Jan. 21, 1960], No. 657/61. Classes 100 (1) and 100 (2). In an office printing-machine, such as a rotary duplicator for addressing envelopes, the address-printing cards 28 are fed direct from a container 14 to the rotating printing drum 2 by a projection 27 which is actuated from the drum and first moves along the bottom card in the container to enter a pocket in the card, and is then moved towards the drum, carrying the card to a position where it can be gripped by grippers 17 on the drum. The drum 2 carries a cam 9 co-operating with a roller 12 on a lever 11 secured to a shaft 29 rotatably mounted in arms pivoted to the container 14, and the projection 27 is secured to the shaft 29. The arms carrying the shaft 29 are also rocked when a roller 10 on the drum 2 engages a lever 13 secured to a link 26 carried by the said arms. Thus, in operation, when the drum 2 is rotated by manual or power means, the projection 27 moves along the base of the bottom card 28 and engages the pocket therein, and is then swung away from the container 14 to place the card on the drum 2, where it is gripped by grippers 17 which pass through openings in the card. After the card has printed on an envelope &c. passed between the drum 2 and a pressure roller 3, the grippers 17 are released at a point beyond rollers 37 and the card is fed by the rollers and a guide 39 into a container 33.
