Class 100(2) Rotary machines; tripping mechanisms A rotary duplicating machine comprises a first printing drum having means for attaching thereto a lithographic master sheet with a mirror-script and arranged adjacent a counter pressure roller of approximately the same size and having means for attaching thereto a copy sheet, said counter pressure roller being arranged adjacent a second printing drum having means for attaching thereto a lithographic master sheet with a directly readable script, the arrangement being such that, prior to the attachment of the copy sheet the master sheet on the second drum prints a copyable mirror-script on to the counter pressure roller whereupon, after the attachment of the copy sheet, the master sheet on the first drum prints on one surface of the copy sheet and the mirrorscript on the counter pressure roller prints a copy on the other surface of the copy sheet. Copysheets 1, Fig. 1, are fed to grippers 30 on the counter pressure roller 15, and passed between the roller and a drum 16 carrying a mirror-script master 19, then being delivered by a suction device 151 oscillated by a rotary member 152 to a table 34. The master 112 on the drum 111 has previously printed on to the resilient covering of the roller 15. If only one side of the copy sheet is to be printed on the drum 111 is moved away from the roller by turning an eccentric 115. In another form, Fig. 2, sheets 1 are fed every second revolution of the drums 16, 54 to the roller 15. A magnet 161 controlled by the drum revolutions causes a plate 158 pivoted on an eccentric 160 to swing during successive revolutions of the drum alternately against stops 164, 165, thereby bringing the roller 15 alternately into contact with the drum 54 to receive its mirror-script copy on the non-sheet feed cycle, and with the drum 16 to print on both sides of the copy sheet. In both forms, if a copy sheet is not correctly fed, a photo-electric cell 8 operates a control motor 10 actuating a cam 149 or 159 to retract the roller.
