Abstract

1398059 Rotary duplicators G RITZERFELD 22 March 1973 [18 April 1972] 13791/73 Heading B6C In a rotary duplicator carrying a printing plate 2 on a drum 1 the plate having as an image a heading line and first and second lines, the lines are printed on copy sheets according to a predetermed programme by the use of an apparatus comprising a sensor 51 and electromagnetic means dependent upon the sensor for allowing cams to move into operative positions to swing an impression cylinder 5 into contact with the copy sheet in the bite between the drum and the cylinder. The sensor also operates a copy sheet feeder. The drum or printing plate has markings associated with the image lines these markings being those detected by the sensor. Abutment means are withdrawn from the path of the cams when the electromagnetic means are energized. If the sensor reads more than one marking at the same time the duplicator is automatically stopped. The sensor 51 is a photo-scanning device but alternatively the sensor may be either electro-mechanical or electromagnetic.
