Abstract

919,164. Valves. LANDON & PARTNERS Ltd., R. F., and WARD, N. H. May 23, 1960 [May 27, 1959], No. 18099/59. Class 135. A fluid control valve comprises a closure member 21 . . . 23 biased towards the closed position, and a spindle 20 in screw-threaded engagement with a nut 27 secured to a sleeve 28 by fusible material. When the temperature of the latter, which may be solder, reaches a predetermined value (e.g. 155‹ F.) it fuses, allowing a spring 25 to close the valve. The spindle 20 has a head 21 provided with resilient washers 22, 23, the washer 23 preventing leakage past the spindle when the valve is raised. In an alternative construction, the closure member is conical with an annular groove for a rubber sealing ring while a packing 31 is replaced by a sealing ring of inverted V-section.
