Abstract

1516629 Valves BRYAN DONKIN CO Ltd 20 June 1975 [4 July 1974] 29769/74 Heading F2V In a regulating valve of the double beat type having means for adjusting one of the closure members relative to the other along a common actuating spindle to ensure their simultaneous closure, the said means is provided at one or both ends of the spindle for operation whilst the valve remains connected to the fluid circuit. In the embodiment shown the closure member 10 is fixed to the common actuating spindle 36 whereas the closure member 12 is adjustably mounted thereon. The member 12 is adjusted by screwing a nut 38 along a threaded portion of the spindle whereby a sleeve 34 moves the member 12 against the action of resilient means, such as spring washers 40. The closure member 10 may be arranged to be adjusted along the spindle via nut 56. One of the closure members may be mounted on one end of a sleeve adjustable screwed at its other end on to a threaded portion of the spindle. A removable cap 54 seals the adjusting means from the ambient and opens a valve 55 to balance the pressures across seal means 52 and thereby minimize drag on the spindle. For the same purpose the cap may be arranged to disengage the seal means from the spindle, Figs. 2 and 3 (not shown).
