3 Claims.
This invention relates to valves of the balanced type.
An object of the present invention is to'provide a balanced valve of the spool type where- 6- in the valve disks may be relatively adjusted exteriorly of the casing and thereafter positively held in adjusted position to compensate for expansion and contraction in the valve parts.
With the above and other objects inr view, thel invention further includes the following novel features and details of construction, to be hereinafter more fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawing and pointed out in the appended claims. f

The ports 14 and 15 are surrounded by seats 16 and 17 respectively which are adapted to be engaged by disk valves 18 and 19 and these disks are connected so as to operate in syn- 3*""chronism, after the manner of valves of this type.
In order to maintain a proper seating lof the disks 18 and 19 so as to prevent leakage, adjust- '.ment must be made to compensate for the ex- 0' pansion and contraction of the valve parts, and in order that a maximum of efciency may be maintained this adjustment must be arranged for convenient operation.
In the present invention, the disk 18 is car- 'ried on a threaded stem 20, and threadedly mounted upon this stem is a sleeve 21 which carries the diskv 19. The stem 20 extends through the outer end of the sleeve 21 and the latter passes through a stufling box 22 whose 'plate 23 is elongated and adjustably held in place by bolts 24.
'Ihe outer end of the sleeve 21 is formed with a nut-like wrench engaging portion 25, whereby the sleeve may be conveniently adjusted on the stem so as to obtain an accurate seating for the ing of `said seats, said means extending-to the v 'to maintain said disks in corresponding relation disks 18 and 19. The outer end of the wrench engaging portion 25 is provided with a ground face which engages the ground face of a washer 26, and the latter is in turn engaged by the ground face of a lock nut 27 which is mounted 601 upon the stem 20. Thus the parts may be. locked against any accidental movement after proper adjustment has been made. Y
The disk 18 is provided with a guide 28 to maintain the disks in axial alignment with respect to the ports. Y
Having described the invention what is claimed I isz- ' 1. A balanced valve of the spool typecomprising a casing having an inlet and outlet formed with spaced valve seatsV disposed between said inlet and outlet, a disk mounted for movement toward and away from one of said seats, a second disk normally stationary with respect to the rst disk and mounted for movement toward and away from the other of said seats, means for the bodily adjustment of said disks towards and away from each other to effect their spacing in accordance with the spacexterior 'of the casing for actuation exteriorly thereof, and means operatively connected with one of said disks for simultaneously moving both disks into and out of engagement `with Atheir respective seats.
2. A balanced Valve' of 'the spool type comprising a casing having an inlet and outlet formed with spaced valve seats disposed between said inlet and outlet, a disk mounted for movementtoward and away from one of said 0*' seats and providedv with a stem extending to the exterior of the casing, a second disk operatively disposed with reference to the other of said seats and having a sleeve disposed in surrounding relation to said stem and extending to the exterior of said casing, means for adjusting said sleeve axially along said stem to denitely space said disks according to the spacing of said Valve vseats to said seats while permitting bodily movement est to said seats While permitting bodily movement of the same toward and avi/ayl from said seats,
