Abstract

917,055. Electric-heating resistance coatings. SIEMENS-ELECTROGERATE A.G. May 16, 1961 [May 18, 1960], No. 17837/61. Class 39 (3). [Also in Group XIII] A metal plate type evaporator with a refrigerant duct 3 formed by an undulation 4 has superimposed on the side with the undulation an electric heating element for the periodic melting of ice formed. This heating element comprises an insulating layer 7 sprayed on to the metal surface of the evaporator; an electrically conductive layer 8 sprayed on to the insulating layer 7 but within the recesses formed by the undulation 4; and a second insulating layer 9 (which is optional) sprayed on the surface of layer 8. The conductive layer 8 is sub-divided with a number of insulating strips 10 to produce a longer electric current path. Two current contacts 11 and 12 can be connected to the secondary side of a transformer as illustrated in Fig. 3 (not shown), to give a low working voltage which is not dangerous.
