[Also in Division G1] In a switch having relatively sliding contacts, one of the contacts comprises a metal layer applied to substantially the whole of one side of an insulating strip or plate, preferably by " printed circuit " methods, and the layer is interrupted by a slit extending completely across the layer from edge to edge, one of parts thus formed being connectible to a circuit, whereas the other part is insulated. The moving contact may be actuated by a condition-responsive device, as shown a liquid-level float 16 carried by a spindle 14 also carrying two contact blades 18, 19. The latter slides on the metal layer on the strip 53 which is carried by a cover member 49. The blade 18 engages a potentiometer 44.
