Abstract

869,242. Thermal switches; cam-operated switches. NORTH WESTERN ELECTRIC APPLIANCES (OLDHAM) Ltd. Aug. 20, 1959 [Aug. 25, 1958], No. 27159/58. Class 38 (5). A temperature control for e.g. an electric blanket, has a snap-action switch 7 in a lead 5 in series with a cartridge fuse 19. The switch 7 is operable by a bi-metal strip 13 having a heater 17 and adjustable by a knob 18 which bears on an ambient-temperature compensating bi-metal 14. The skirt 29 of the knob has a recess 28 which co-operates with a projection 27 on a leaf spring contact 26 to allow contacts 26, 25 in the other lead 6 to open. An indicator lamp 23 is connected in series with a resistance 30 between the fuse clip 21 and lead 6. According to the Provisional Specification, switch 7 may be similar to that of Specification 708,274.
