A gill box with means for removing irregularities in the sliver comprises feed rollers 11, Fig. 1, mounted on horizontal axes, a horizontal feed-table 19, a horizontal faller bed 13, two pairs of measuring-rollers 16a, 16b and two pairs of control rollers 18a, 18b respectively positioned side-by-side and mounted on vertical axes, one roller in each pair being movable toward and away from the other stationary roller in each pair, all these elements being arranged in series so that slivers can be fed simultaneously over the single feed table, and means to vary the speed of the stationary roller of each support pair according to the displacement of the movable roller of the corresponding measuring pair.
