892,656. Drawing-apparatus. OSAKA MACHINE MANUFACTURING CO. Ltd. April 14, 1960, No. 13464/60. Class 120(2) Apparatus for rendering the slivers in a delivery of uniform magnitude, comprises a verticallydisplaceable measuring-roller such as 17 for each sliver, a driving and measuring roller 15 with annular grooves therein to engage with an annular projection on each measuring roller, means, comprising a lever 18 on which roller 17 is mounted and of which the free end has a slanted surface engaging a slidable rod 28, on a movable frame 31, to amplify the effect of the displacement of each measuring roller, means 24 to average-out such effects, means to vary the speed of roller 15 according to this average effect, servo-means 42 connected to the variable-driving means, and means to slide frame 31 so that lever 18 is turned on its pivot whereby the clearance between the rollers 15 and 17 at the end of the lever is adjusted to deal with slivers of different basic thicknesses. Each lever 18 is pivoted at 19 and drawn to the left by a spring 20 to keep the corresponding roller 17 in contact with roller 15; it also has a pivoted extension 21 spring-urged against a lever, e.g. 28 in the averaging-means 24. This consists of a lever 26, Fig. 4, supported centrally by lever 25 and supporting a pivoted lever 27; for three slivers three levers 28, 29, 30 are arranged as shown, the average displacement whereof is transmitted to lever 25 to operate the pin 41 of a servomotor 42 by a bell-crank 39. The resultant movement of the piston of the servomotor is transmitted by a bell-crank 44 to rock the pivot 46 of an arm 48 to move the belt of an arrangement of conical pulleys 52, 51, the latter drawn at constant speed and the former connected to roller 15. To adjust the apparatus for different sizes of sliver, the device 24 is raised or lowered by a rack 32 supported by a spring 35 and having inclined teeth cooperating with similar teeth on a beam 33 slidable in a fixed guide 36 when an adjusting-screw is operated, an indicator 53 being provided.
