Abstract
911,268. Liquid fuel burners. LINDE, R. A., VON. Feb. 24, 1961, No. 6808/61. Class 75 (1). A liquid fuel burner comprises an atomizing nozzle 25 discharging into recirculatod combustion gases in a mixing nozzle 24 which discharges into a mixture tube 17 provided with combustion air through a pipe 21. The combustion air flows over the end of the mixing nozzle 24 and draws the combustion products from the combustion chamber 16 through apertures 18 in a flange on the end of the mixturetube 17 and through an annular chamber defined by an intermediate wall 22 and a hollow ceramic body 30. In a modification, Fig. 2 (not shown), the combustion chamber is of double conical form and its ceramic wall adjoining the mixture tube is provided with channels conveying the combustion products back to the apertures in the flange at the end of the mixture tube. In another embodiment, Fig. 3 (not shown), the combustion gases are carried back to the mixing nozzle through tubes extending through a combustion air chamber surrounding the mixture tube. In still another embodiment, Fig. 4 (not shown), the combustion gases are carried back to the mixing nozzle through an annular chamber surrounding the mixture tube and the combustion air is carried by tubes through the annular chamber carrying the combustion gases.
