906,493. Refrigerators. GENERAL MOTORS CORPORATION. July 13, 1961 [July 25, 1960], No. 25386/61. Class 29. The wall of a refrigerator comprises two spaced panels with thermal insulation in the form of foamed polyurethane between them. To prevent adhesion of the foamed polyurethane to either of the panels, or between two layers of foamed polyurethane, a sheet of material such as polyethylene is placed between the foamed polyurethane and what it will adhere to. Figs. 5 and 6 show the construction for a door of a refrigerator with foamed polyurethane insulation 18 between an outer panel 16 and an inner moulded polystyrene panel 17. Fig. 6 shows a polyethylene sheet 19 dividing the insulation which is stuck to the inner and outer panels, so that the panels can be dismantled. Fig. 5 shows the polyethylene sheet 19 next to the inner panel 17 and in another embodiment (not shown) the polyethylene sheet 19 is next to the outer panel 16. Breaker strips. A moulded polystyrene breaker strip 31 (Fig. 2) has an outer edge fitted in a channel 32 formed in an inturned front portion of a shell 26 and a groove at the inner edge to receive the outer edge of a refrigerator liner 27.
