A refrigerator comprises an outer casing made up of a plurality of separate members, the front edges of the side walls of the casing being bent inwardly and arranged to overlap the outwardly bent edges of the inner liner, and foamed plastic insulation between the shell and liner. As shown in Fig. 3, the outwardly bent edge 11 of the inner line 7 abuts a return bend portion of the inwardly bent front edge of a side wall 1, the abutting parts being embraced by a sealing strip 5 which serves to prevent emergence of foam during formation of the insulation. The foamed plastic serves to hold the abutting parts firmly together. As shown in Fig. 15 a transverse frame member 3 is secured in a similar manner to the upwardly bent top edge of liner 7 and is so shaped as to overhang the refrigerator door (not shown). A top cover 6 is provided and a further frame member 4 (Fig. 1, not shown) is secured to the bottom of the liner. Alternative forms of connection between the edges of the inner liner and side walls, with and without the use of sealing strips, are illustrated in Figs. 7 to 14 (not shown). The refrigerator door (Figs. 18 to 22, not shown) is formed of two or more wall portions which are held together by means of foamed plastic insulation and serve to support magnetic sealing strips.
