Abstract
1,103,748. Refrigerators. CLARK EQUIPMENT CO. 9 Sept., 1966 [29 Sept., 1965], No. 40372/66. Heading F4H. A heat-insulating panel comprises spaced sheets 15, 16 having inwardly extending flanges 19, and a breaker strip 20 having flanges 22 which extend through the gap between flanges 19 and have bent portions 23 arranged to engage the inner faces of flanges 19. The breaker strip is resilient and inserted in place after sheets 15 and 16 have been assembled but prior to the foaming of plastics insulation 17. Beads 24 of a non-setting sealant are placed adjacent portions 23 and are forced into the space between portions 23 and flanges 19 during the foaming operation. The panel is held in jigs J during the latter and after removal of the jigs, the centre of the breaker strip moves outwardly to produce a bowed configuration (Fig. 3, not shown). Such movement is prevented if the sealant is omitted (Fig. 4, not shown). The panel may comprse part of a cabinet provided with refrigerating or warming means.
