Abstract

1,026,689. Refrigerators. GENERAL MOTORS, Ltd. May 7, 1964 [May 16, 1963], No. 19465/63. Heading F4H. In a refrigerator cabinet comprising an outer sheet metal shell and an inner liner of flexible synthetic plastic material, corresponding slots and lugs are formed on the shell and liner respectively and the latter is deformed when inserted in the shell then allowed to assume its normal configuration so that the slots and lugs engage one another. As shown in Fig. 2, the shell 10 has a forwardly directed marginal portion 11 of double thickness surrounding the edges of the door 21, an inwardly directed flange 12 and a rearwardly directed flange 13 having slots 14. The liner 17 is provided with outwardly directed lugs 19 which project into the slots 14 when the liner is allowed to assume its normal configuration after deformation and insertion in the shell. The outer edges of those lugs adjacent the corners of the cabinet are inclined as indicated at 20 in Fig. 1 to facilitate their insertion in the corresponding slots.
