Abstract

1,142,581. Thermal insulation. ENGLISH ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. 24 May, 1966 [25 May, 1965], No. 22187/65. Heading F2X. [Also in Division F4] A heat insulated panel, e.g. a refrigerator door, is formed by providing sealing members 10 around the periphery of a first sheet, forcing a peripheral flange 12 of a second sheet into members 10 and foaming a plastics material in the space between the two sheets. Members 10 are held in inwardly facing channels 8 formed at the edges of the first sheet and may have grooves 11 to facilitate insertion of flange 12. Preferably, the first sheet is formed of steel, the second of plastics material, the insulation of foamed polyurethane and members 10 of expanded polystyrene.
