Abstract

964,809. Refrigerators. ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. Aug. 27, 1962 [Sept. 15, 1961], No. 33215/61. Heading F4H. The conventional outer shell of a refrigerator cabinet is wholly or partly omitted and the resulting exposed surfaces of the rigid foamed plastic insulation 3 are sealed from the ingress of moisture by a layer 4 of aluminium foil. The latter is from 0.0008 to 0.0015 inch thick and may have a raised pattern thereon. The cabinet is made by foaming the insulation in a mould, to the appropriate walls of which sheets of foil have been lightly secured, the foil adhering to the foam and being removed therewith from the mould. If sheet metal walls are required for part of the cabinet these may form part of the mould or may subsequently be secured to the foamed insulation.
