Abstract
904,565. Valves. NORDSTRANDSVENTILEN A.B. Nov. 27, 1958 [May 3, 1958], No. 38282/58. Class 135. In a valve of the kind wherein a resilient cup- or sleeve-shaped closure member 5, 6 co-operating with a seat 4 to control flow between an inlet 2 and outlet 3 is operated by a rotary actuating crank 12, 14 extending into the closure member, the wall thickness of that part of the closure member which is to engage with the seat is greater than that of the further part 6 of the closure member and this further part, which forms a collar 10 attached to the valve housing 1, is sufficiently flexible to bend during operation of the valve but without allowing rotation of the rest of the closure member 5 in relation to the housing. A rigid liner 16 in which the crank engages is of oval section. In a modification, the crank has two bearings at opposite ends of the closure member and the collar part is duplicated at the other end.
