Abstract
902,207. Electromagnetic holding-devices. ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. July 2, 1959 [July 4, 1958], No. 21550/58. Class 35. [Also in Group XXXVI] An electromagnetic holding - device comprises a yoke 2 with an energizing coil 4, a ferromagnetic armature (not shown) and an A.C. fed search coil 5 for detecting closure of the magnetic circuit. When the armature is drawn into contact with the yoke the impedance of search coil 5 changes, the current flowing therein also changes, thus operating indicating relay 8. In modifications, search coil 5 may be lumped at one end of the main coil, or may be disposed in pole-face slots. The device may operate nuclear reactor controlrods.
