Abstract

852,171. Electromagnets. GENERAL CONTROLS CO. Aug. 1, 1958, No. 24825/58. Class 35. [Also in Group XXIX] An electromagnet comprises a U-shaped core 19 having flat polepieces 21 and 22 and an armature 23 pivoted on a knife edge 24 carried on one polepiece, the armature being flexibly supported by a flat U-shaped resilient strip 28 the ends of which are welded to side projections of the polepiece 22, the cross member of the U being welded to the armature at position 29. In theunenergised position condition the armature is biased out of contact with the second polepiece 22 by spring 25. Specification 852,172 is referred to.
